Verifying the signer's identity
To ensure proper notarization and comply with Virginia state law, the signer is required to present at least one current, government-issued photo identification. Acceptable forms of identification must include the signer's photograph, signature, and a physical description. Examples of valid identification include a current (non-expired) driver's license, state-issued identification card, Passports (Domestic and Foreign).
